Carpino

Though settlements in the area date back to Neolithic and Eneolithic times, it wasn’t until the second half of the seventh century AD that Troia was officially founded.
During the spread of Christianity it became the seat of the Bishop and the ecumenical council. Troia holds one of the masterpieces of Italian art, a Romanesque Cathedral, renowned for its rose window and bronze door.

Visitors can admire the Church of S. Basilio (Saint Basil) the protector, the Treasure Museum in the Cathedral that houses the priceless Exultet (a medieval parchment scroll ten meters long), and the D'Avalos Palace.
